Share your drawings in a collective on-line map.

"Share!" is a project based on drawing.
The idea arose considering the conception potential of the drawing act.
Drawing is seen as a process allowing ideas to shape up without being subject to the bonds implied by an "work of art".Inspired by the surrealist "cadavres exquis" we tried to make up a place on the WEB where anyone, at the same time, could draw and modify the same drawing. We imagined a collective drawing that could be developed-altered-destroyed in real time, a constantly changing map of signs and ideas, extremely far from being defined "work of art" but with the potential of thousands of "works".
These are the assumptions on which "Share!" was developed. Now, after a few month of online work and the joint efforts of a hundred people, the outcome is a huge drawing without a centre, a "rizoma" where the contributions of single individual can be traced as geological strata.

How it works

"Share!" is a platform for communal drawing conceived in php and using a painter-java program. Navigating the drawing-map the user can spot where to intervene. After login, the user can choose whether to modify a part of the visible drawing-map or add a new frame. The frame, composed and recomposed, is therefore inserted in the global map in real time, altering and in most cases (when a new frame is added) disarranging it.
The global map can be easily navigated with the arrows at the sides of the screen. The individual frames that make it up offer pieces of information on the day and the hour in which they were modified.
The "God's eye" instrument on the left of the small drawing-map allows to enjoy a global and enlarged vision of the collective drawing.
A special area for messages, comments and links is provided under each frame of the drawing-map.
In the section "archive" the images recorded show the evolution of "Share!".
